Beyond the Expected

Our curriculum includes the full substance of the traditional curriculum and goes beyond the expected to teach students how to think clearly, conduct their own research, express themselves well in writing and speech and put their knowledge to a practical application. In addition we offer strong music, fine arts, and language immersion (French, English, Spanish) programs.

The Renaissance International School was founded in 1992, and provides children with an international and multidisciplinary experience in which they can achieve their highest potential.

Students from Oakland, Berkeley, San Leandro, Alameda, Moraga, and other San Francisco East Bay cities attend The Renaissance International School, with campuses in Oakland’s Dimond District and Piedmont.

Thank you for visiting our site from Parents Press.

TRIS welcome middle

The Journey Starts Here!

The Renaissance International School is the place where children begin an educational journey that is open, supportive, and multidisciplinary, where they can develop and achieve their highest potential, and grow and evolve with us to become young citizens of the world.

History
The Renaissance International School (TRIS) was founded in 1992 by Leslie Hites, who today continues as Head of School.

“Many years ago as I searched for the best education that would allow my six children to develop their potential, I found Montessori. Since then, countless numbers of children, including my own, have flourished at TRIS, and developed into inquisitive, humane, capable adults who share a passion for life and are dedicated to the pursuit of excellence.”
--Leslie Hites, Founder and Head of School
